He-Man & She-Ra - A Christmas Special

The last week. We’re in the home stretch now.

Both of us here at 2 assholes grew up in the 80’s (and by grew up, I mean reached the age of 9). This was a magical time to be a kid, as a few years earlier, toy companies realized that they could sell many more plastic dolls and action figures if they had an accompanying television show to go along with it. And thus, many shows were born, from Rainbow Brite to the Transformers, to my personal favorite, He-Man. And like all other things corporate and consumer driven, it had to have a Christmas special.

The Christmas special involved a team-up with He-Man’s cousin, She-Ra. Two kids come to Eternia spreading the Christmas spirit, and Skeletor and Hordak (He-man and She-Ra’s nemeses, respectively) are dispatched to put a stop to it. Since Skeletor and Hordak are always quibbling, they split up and Skeletor manages to find the kids, who then infect him with the spirit of Christmas (jeez, it’s like it’s some kind of super plague or something). Will Skeletor overcome to spirit of Christmas to finally kill and eat the children? Or will peace on Eternia and good will towards He-men win out in the end? If you have to ask, you’ve obviously never seen a single episode of He-man.

I remember this episode... it was one of several of the extremely cool cross-over episodes they did for the two series. I highly recommend this DVD as well.
